Tuesday Winter Run#1

To Thelwall, Bridge Foot, Red Lane (see Map above)

• Leave Broomfields via the main gate, bare right and then turn right on to Dingleway.
• At the end, turn left on to Bridge Lane, continue down hill until the end, and turn left on to Lumb Brook Road.
• Follow Lumb Brook Road, pass under the bridge, at the junction turn right onto Chester Road and then cross over at the traffic lights on Ackers Road.
• Continue on Ackers Lane which then turns into Hunts Ln and then turn right down Knutsford Road towards Grappenhall passing shops until reach the Springbrook Pub. (Cut off One)
• Cross over knutsford road and turn left into Stockport Road over the bridge, past the British Legion set back on the right. The road becomes tree lined on both sides; continue on, passing a bus stop on the left, then turn left into Bell Lane.
• Not the best lit of roads; Bell Lane also is a little uneven under foot so care is required, especially after dark.
• After passing the Little Manor and Thelwall Arms Pubs in quick succession, the road bends sharply left and becomes Thelwall New Road. Remain on this road until the Swing Bridge at Latchford.
• Turn right and cross the bridge, cross Station Road, go through the pedestrian tunnel, and pass the shops, on what is now Knutsford Road.
• Continue straight along Knutsford Road, pass Sir Thomas Boteler High School, (Cut Off Two) then the Black Bear Pub on the left, and the entrance to Victoria Park on the right. Carry on until you reach the Bridge Foot roundabout.
• At Bridge Foot turn left and go over the bridge with the Bus Depot on your left. (Cut Off Three)
• At St James's Church where the road forks, use the pelican crossing to cross Wilderspool Causeway and continue up Chester Road.
• Follow Chester Road for approximately a mile and cross the Swing Bridge
• After The Stag Pub, cross Ellesmere Road using the small traffic island and bear left into Hill Cliffe Road.
• After 50m cross Walton New Road and continue on Hill Cliffe Road until you come to a small traffic island, turn left into Whitefield Road After 400m there is a junction of five roads, with a telephone box on the right.
• Take the second road on the right Red Lane; continue over the canal, after the allotments the road begins to climb, gently at first then very steeply as you pass the cemetery on your right. At the top of the hill just before the entrance to the Cemetary, follow the road left into Windmill Lane.
• At the end turn left into Quarry Lane which drops sharply, at the bottom turn left into London Road. Cross London Road at the traffic Lights, and turn next right into Broomfield's Road, continue on until the main entrance to Broomfields Leisure Centre on the right.

Cut Off 1 - Giving a run of approx. 4.3 miles

• Turn right at the traffic lights of chester rd & knutsford rd at the Springbrook Pub into Chester Road.
• Continue up Chester Rd passing mainly houses & then further up bridgewater canal on left hand side.
• Once the road starts going slightly down hill and has pavement on both sides cross onto left hand side when safe to do so. Passing through one set of traffic lights before turning left at lights into Lumb Brook Road passing under the bridge.
• Turn right into Bridge Lane, running uphill past the houses and shops.
• Turn right on to Dingleway, then left at the Church onto Broomfields Road, continue straight on into Broomfields via the main gate.
• Cut Off 2 - Giving a run of approx. 7.5 miles (see Map below)
• After Sir Thomas Boteler High School turn left into Wash Lane. Follow Wash Lane, slightly uphill, until the junction at the Cantilever Chip Shop, turn left into Station Road.
• Climb up Station Road and at the top turn right onto Ackers Road crossing the cantilever bridge. Drop down off the bridge staying on Ackers Road as it bends to the right. Pass Ackers Pit on the right and at the junction cross Chester Road and turn left onto Lumb Brook Road passing under the bridge.
• Turn right into Bridge Lane, running uphill past the houses and shops.
• Turn right on to Dingleway, then left at the Church onto Broomfields Road, continue straight on into Broomfields via the main gate.

Cut Off 2 - Giving a run of approx. 7.5 miles (see Map below)

• After Sir Thomas Boteler High School turn left into Wash Lane. Follow Wash Lane, slightly uphill, until the junction at the Cantilever Chip Shop, turn left into Station Road.
• Climb up Station Road and at the top turn right onto Ackers Road crossing the cantilever bridge. Drop down off the bridge staying on Ackers Road as it bends to the right. Pass Ackers Pit on the right and at the junction cross Chester Road and turn left onto Lumb Brook Road passing under the bridge.
• Turn right into Bridge Lane, running uphill past the houses and shops.
• Turn right on to Dingleway, then left at the Church onto Broomfields Road, continue straight on into Broomfields via the main gate.

Cut Off 3 - Giving a run of approx. 8 miles

• At St James's Church where the road forks stay left and follow Wilderspool Causeway passing 'The Causeway' pub on the left. At the traffic lights continue on passing Morrisons on the left.
• Cross the canal via the swing bridge, and continue through Stockton Heath. At the cross roads continue straight on up London Road, over the canal.
• After the London Bridge pub turn left into Dingleway.
• When you reach St Monica's Church turn Right into Broomfields road, and on into Broomfields Leisure Centre directly ahead.
